Green Tip of the Week - Holiday Stress

Today's GREEN Tip of the Week is how to reduce stress during the busy holiday season...

#1 Rule...Don't try to do too much. If you miss baking a certain cookie or buying another gift. It will be okay.  I see so many people stress over the small stuff and make themselves ill from worrying.

Barking Wednesday ~ Control Your Dog Dander

Thanks for joining me for Barking Wednesday. Each week I will be posting info about my favorite guy ~ Kingers and his friends. All kinds of stuff ~ products ~ homemade treat recipes ~ info I have learned over the years. Info I think is helpful in making sure that every dog lives a fantastic life.

 During the winter months pet dander can be a issue. Kingers is a Black Lab with lots of dander. To help reduce the dander in my home I have found a few things that work.

Here are my ways to reduce King's dander during the winter months:

1 - Wash your pet regularly - use natural shampoo.  I take Kingers to the Pet Baths at our local car wash.  The wash area is clean and warm. Then my hubby pulls up and King jumps into a warm Jeep and then into a warm house. 

2 - If you have carpet invest in a good vacuum. Vacuuming regularly (daily) will help reduce dander. I have a Dyson and it works great.

3 - Make sure your home is high in humidity.  Humidity keeps down dander. I like to bowl a pan of water on the stove.  I know it sounds old school - but it works! Humidity in your home also will help

4 - Air purifiers are also good to reduce pet dander. I do not use a purifier but I have family members that do.

Personally I think regular baths with natural shampoo has helped the most with Kingers to reduce his dander.  It is also makes him smell good and his fur has a marvelous shine.

outside-the-classroom educational and mentoring program. 

The 2014 Disney Dreamers Academy, now in its seventh year, will take place March 6 th – 9 th, at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Disney Dreamers Academy continues to hold true to its mission to inspire and fuel the dreams of teens, help them discover a world of possibilities and help them prepare for the future. 

Annually, 100 U.S. high school students, selected from thousands of applications, embark on an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida for an immersive four-day program that inspires and fuels their dreams.

Both onstage and behind the scenes, the Disney theme parks become vibrant ‘classrooms,’ leading to career discoveries, the pursuit of dreams and fun memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Motivational speakers and celebrities share their stories and provide insight on how to achieve success and DREAM BIG. Dreamers have the opportunity to cultivate relationships with other students from across the nation while they gain firsthand knowledge from Disney experts and world-renowned entrepreneurs and executives.

Green Tip of the Week - Give the gift of recycling

Green Tip of the Week

A great way to spread the word about Being Green and Recycling is to give a gift made from Recycled Products.  It is amazing the creative ways artist can recycle products.  I attend a yearly event in Downtown Milwaukee dedicated to Recycled Gift Giving.  RRRAGs  Riverwest Random Recyclable Art & Gift Show - all proceeds go to the neighborhood arts department.

Check out your local events .... for great art work made from Recycled Products.

RRRAGS is a great local event which raises money to purchase art supplies and art programming for children in the Central City Neighborhoods of Riverwest and Harambe. 

This group of vendors is comprised of local artists, cooperatives and small business owners who live in Riverwest or the near East Side, many of whom depend on their art for their sole income.  The fair focuses on local and recycled items.  And while you will find art-i-facts you will also find practical and useful items. All of the RRRAGS vendors display handmade in the United States work.  That is what the Riverwest neighborhood is all about!
