Barking Wednesday ~ Spring Fever

Thanks for joining me for my Barking Wednesday post.
Each week I post stuff about my favorite guy...Kingers and his friends.
All kinds of stuff....products - homemade treat recipes - info I have learned over the years, etc.  Info I think is helpful in making sure that every dog lives a fantastic life.

I have Spring Fever so I wanted to share with you a few things to be sure to check into this Spring before your dog heads outside to enjoy the warmer weather.

  • Before you fertilize your lawn make sure that all products you purchase are pet safe. Being green we only use natural products on our lawn.  Safe for us, Kingers, and the lake we live on.
  • Many plants are deadly to dogs ~ when planting make sure all plants are dog safe. Here is a great website with plant information.  http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-
non-toxic-plants  Who would of thought that the Acorn Squash plant would be harmful to a dog.
  • Make sure your dog is protected from fleas, heartworm and other parasites. Spring is Kingers yearly Heartworm blood test and then we stock up on 1 years worth of medication.  I use Revolution on King. We have been using Revolution since King was born - no issues.
One of the biggest issues with Kingers in the Spring is his activity.  He does very little in winter months and when the weather gets nice he too gets Spring Fever.  He is running and playing in the yard like a puppy.  We have to really watch him because he will run till he can not run anymore.  By monitoring his activity and gradually increasing his play time...we have been able to help control his muscle pain.
