Barking Wednesday ~ Dog Poop Scoop and Spade

Hi….I wanted to make sure to tell you upfront that  I have received no product or compensation to promote this product. I do so because it works and I want to share a honest review with other dog owners.  Thanks for visiting.

This week for Barking Wednesday I wanted to talk about Pooper Scoopers!  Yep... a tool needed to do the worst job at our house!  Kingers is a 100 pound Black Lab and he is quite the pooper.

Over the years I have used a shovel - the clamping type of poop picker upper  - numerous brands of scoopers.  All were okay.

This spring at our local True Value I purchased the Flexrake Scoop and Spade - it is a handy poop scoop. Works much better than all of the others I have had over the years.

The scoop and spade have 4' Alumilite handles and the scoop pan and spade are made of non-rusting aluminum. Pan is made of Durable Non-Rusting Aluminum. They are lightweight and easy to use.

I purchased a small scoop...it is plenty big enough to collect Kingers poop.  I like the fact that it will not rust...cuz I keep our scoop outside - along the backside of the garage. I really do not want to keep it inside anywhere!

I figured no need to buy a big scoop - I use the scoop and a lined bucket weekly to pick up his treats he leaves in the yard. The small scoop is perfect to pick up his poop then dump in a bucket and head to the next pile.

I totally understand that this is not a pleasant topic to discuss...but I do know that dog owners are faced with this icky task.   I highly recommend the Flexrake to clean up any dog owners yard!

LOL....if someone would of told me that one day I would be recommending Poop Picker Uppers on my blog..I would of said  "No Way"....Funny how our lives change!

  1. I hate having to scoop up our dogs poop, but it's a necessary evil I suppose.

    1. I agree on the handle length! Definitely saves on having to bend over and hurt your back.

  3. This is the worst thing about having a dog but then again i have to pick up my horses mess so a dogs is nothing lol.I Normally just use the horse shovel. This one does look really good i like that it is non rust.

  4. I wish my neighbors would buy one of these, I am so tired of poop in my yard.

  5. I have a puppy. No one could have ever told me such a thing would happen to me personally. I promise you now that I will forever be looking for the best ways to clean up after her publicly and privately - and if my neighbors were an issue I would buy them a scooper, Mama to 5!

  6. I don't have dogs, but have plenty of friends who do. Anything to make cleaning up after your pet easier is a great thing!

  7. It looks like that would make the job easier!

  8. This is so much better than what we're currently using: a spade! much more official!

  9. I've never seen anything like that - sure would make the job easier!

  10. Yuck. So glad we don't have a dog. This is one of the biggest reasons. We have enough poop to deal with here already, lol!

  11. This is the one thing I hate about having a pet. I have to do poop patrol in the yard and pick it up with biodegradable little bags. This scoop would be great to use!

  12. We have 2 dogs. I need to get one of those!

  13. I'm so glad we live in the country so we don't have to scoop near as often as we did in the suburbs. Now we just clear it away from the house when we have a cookout or company coming over. When the dogs venture out away from the house we just leave it.

  14. You totally made me laugh. I'm not a fan of our dogs #2's. I put that job on the man of the house since they both smell haha. In all seriousness that looks like a really great product :) Thanks for sharing.

  15. We have the same one… LOL! I know you never thought you would be talking about it, but that is what happens when you get older!

  16. Oh boy do I need one of these things. My dogs LOVE to poop EVERYWHERE and I hate using the good ol' plastic bag to pick it up. This would be so nifty.

  17. I know some people at the local lake who could use one of these. Question is...would they. -_- def. a useful product.

  18. I'd keep it outside too! That is so much better than reaching down with a plastic bag and actually feeling the squish. *shivers*

  19. I don't have any dogs, but this looks like it would be a great product for all dog owners. I always appreciate it when dog owners clean up after their pets on our bike path so we don't have to worry about stepping in anything yucky.

  20. Man, this is so much better than bending down with a plastic bag!!! Love it, and I wish more people used one!

  22. I've been cleaning litter boxes since I was a kid so when I had to pick up dog poop at the park, I never really thought anything about it.

  23. Ha ha! I used to have a Newfoundland. I would have needed an extra large scooper!

  24. Nobody likes talking about poop but it's a simple fact. If you own a dog, you need to clean up. This is a great option.

  25. I thought my kids would be using our poop scooper but guess what they probably dont even know how to use it after 3 years of having the dog!

  26. Hah! We need one of these. We have two dogs and they can really ruin the yard.

  27. this looks like this would work well with the long handle

  28. I know my mom hates scooping dog poop from her yard. I'll definitely recommend this scoop to her!

  29. It's definitely ONE of the worst parts of being a dog owner. Don't forget the anal gland expressing if you can't get into the vet or groomer. I've said too much. Blech.

  30. We should probably get a pooper scooper for our dogs in the backyard but we just leave it! It rains here so much that it washes away eventually. LOL I'm just lazy!

  31. Picking up my dog's poo up is never fun, but having some, ahem, tools would make it a little better.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lol. that is quite a change. I don't like picking up after my dog. eeek

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's definitely funny the way life changes! This seems like a great tool to pick up that doggie poop!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ooh! We need one of those! My dog used to poo on the grass but I think she's really started to lose her eye sight so has been going all over the place. :(

    ReplyDelete
  35. One thing you said that is true - life changes. THere are so many things we do that we never thought we would do!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Honestly, I leave that job to hubby lol. Every once in a while I will do it, but it's not something I will do unless it's necessary lol.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yep, not a pleasant post but needed. I've tried a lot of pooper scoopers, this one looks like a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I have a pooper scooper of sorts. I just use a trash bag and a shovel. This looks like a better option.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Such a handy pooper scooper! Now if I could just get the neighbor's dogs to stop peeing on my lilac tree...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ha! So true how our lives do change. I never thought I would like a post about pooper scoopers. This does look like a great scooper!

  42. I think you'll definitely get your money's worth! And you get a mini workout!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Unpleasant yes, but totally necessary. I have two dogs and it's a chore keeping the backyard picked up. This would save my back.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thank you for the recommendation. We need purchase one and I will check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  45. We have two dogs so this is very helpful! Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I have my son picking up dog poop with his hands like a barbarian:P Maybe I'll get him a tool like this to make his chores easier

    ReplyDelete
  47. I should look into buying one of these! Sad to say, but we just use our hands with a poop bag - and we have TWO dogs. I'd like to not have to get my nose close enough to smell it!

    ReplyDelete
  48. ahahahaha - that last part is funny...you just never know what you will end up loving and sharing! Pooper scoopers are pretty helpful though!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh my gosh - that is a gigantic scoop! Definitely would get the job done - lol!
