You guys know I love to grill out! Since it is GRILLING TIME - I wanted to share some important grilling info:
- It is so important to keep your grill clean. The best time to clean your grill is when it is cold - using a grill brush brush scrape all loose materials off grill. Then wash with hot soapy water. Rinse well
- If grilling meat do not let the meat sit outside on warm days...and if you do have the meat outside make sure it is always covered. This is totally gross but did you know it takes 9 SECONDS for a housefly to lay it's larva! Only 9 seconds! Keeping meat and other food covered will prevent any fly larva plus stop any cross contamination.
- Always have two plates for your meat - one for raw meat and one for cooked meat. Never use the same plate for both.
- All meat marinades can not be used as a sauce until the marinade has been completely boiled
- Always use a meat thermometer - here are the minimum temps for three of the most popular grilling meats Steak: 145°F , Hamburgers: 160°F, Chicken: 165°F
- Always use the Two Hour Rule: Never leave food at room temperature for more than two hours (one hour if it’s 90°F or warmer)
- Remember – keep it hot (140°F) or keep it cold (40°F) – or don't keep it at all!
We have grilled almost every night since Memorial Day. We love cooking out on the grill.
