2014 Holiday Season Memories - Part One

I am a early riser....I love working on my computer before sunrise when it is so quiet. I sit at my desk in the dark just me and my keyboard.

This morning my mind keeps reminding me how blessed I am. I know that sounds corny ~ but my mind keeps strolling through my life this Christmas season.

While mind strolling I noticed that not once do I stop at a negative. Guess that is telling me that the positive definitely outweigh the negative. My thoughts are on people and our actions.

To save my memories in text I have decided that I will start writing posts about this year and all future Holiday Celebrations.

Here we go - We started our 2014 Holiday Season with Thanksgiving Dinner at Cracker Barrel.  About 8 years ago we decided to give Cracker Barrel a try for Thanksgiving Dinner. Now Cracker Barrel is our Family Thanksgiving Tradition.

Oh my the things I hear when I tell people where we go for Thanksgiving Dinner. So many well meaning thoughts about how we should spend our Thanksgiving. I wish everyone could see the the kids faces when we arrive at Cracker Barrel. To us this is our special Thanksgiving...they are super excited and are hungry for turkey. No drama... the restaurant is packed with families just like us...there to celebrate Thanksgiving together. This year we all smiled when we saw a family of 21 were seated near us. Every year Cracker Barrel is hopping with positive vibes by staff and customers.

When dinner is over - it is time for some Dawn & I  to start the holiday shopping. This year since Black Friday Shopping started on Thanksgiving - Dawn and I headed to the stores while Gene, Dave and the kids headed home for football and truck talking.

Dawn and I absolutely love Black Friday Shopping. We love the crowds! Not once have we ever encountered trouble while shopping. Standing in line I have meet some very nice people...in fact our experiences have all been positive. But then again - I think we have more control that we know on how our experience will be. We expect to wait in line, we expect for the stores to be packed, we expect the craziness!  Getting upset about what we expect is silly to me! We shop then head to Starbucks - regroup then shop some more - back to Starbucks to regroup!  Gosh, I can not tell you how much I love our mother daughter time while Black Friday Shopping. Dawn and I are very close - we do so much together. We shop together all the time - but our Black Friday Shopping is special to us - special in a way I can not explain.

Every year there seems to be one special gift we are looking for. It is Dawn's job to figure out our game plan on getting the gift.  I am happy to say - this year was no exception - She got the Gift!

Well the house is waking up....time to make breakfast and get going with more holiday celebrations. More post about this holiday season will be coming soon....

  1. What a beautiful way to focus on the good things of life! I especially like the comment about how silly it is to get upset at the busy part of Black Friday when a person willingly goes out into the throng. Have a happy Christmas and fantastic 2015!

  2. I love the Cracker Barrel, but my husband won't go there anymore. He got sick after eating there once and even though I am sure one had nothing to do with the other, he still won't go back :(

  4. What is important is that you have found something out that works for your family. We have tried many different things over the years for Thanksgiving since we live 2000 miles away from family. We have went to Disneyland, accepted invitations to eat at friend's homes, had friends to our home and ate out at restaurants. In the end, we have decided that what is best for our family is a meal for the four of us at our home. It works for us.

  5. We usually go out to eat on Thanksgiving. This year we decided to eat at home since we moved into a new place. I think we will go back to eating out next year.

  8. I told my Hubs next year I want to go out and eat Thanksgiving Dinner. That way no one has the mess in their house. We will see if it happens.
