Let the Holidays Begin ........................

Let the holiday season begin............................I just purchased our tickets to see
Scrooge The Musical presented by the Haylofters Theater Group.

     Friday December 12  7:30pm

This is a delightful musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel A Christmas Carol. Cold-souled Ebenezer Scrooge has a change of heart after spirit visitations on Christmas Eve. Folks might not have had much to sing about in England in 1860, but this musical will make you believe otherwise.
Directed by Don Fresen

Isa and I plan on spending the night enjoying the fun performance. Then we are headed for a tasty hot chocolate.  Memory making fun!

#romance ~ The Publicist ~ Book One by Christine George

Behind every book, there’s always more to the story.

Can one woman change an age-old institution like publishing? Probably not, but Kate Mitchell sure wants to try. As a publicist with a large, respected New York publishing house, Kate finds herself at the mercy of a broken publishing system, books that don’t always sell (at all) and author egos that are often, well, as big as the island of Manhattan.

Enter the star Editor, MacDermott Ellis. Tall, handsome, charismatic, married, and ready to save the day. Kate wants to do the right thing but her hormones seem to be driving her decisions. Then there’s Allan Lavigne, once a revered author, now as forgotten as yesterday’s news; and his nephew Nick, who wants to sweep Kate away from New York for another coast, California.

As Kate tries to navigate the landmine of publicity, the over-the-top author expectations, and the careful dance of “I’m sorry, your book isn’t on the bestseller list this week”, she also finds authors who are painfully overlooked by a publisher wanting more sex, more celebrities, and more scandal.

Review:
Have you ever listened to an Audiobook? If not you should give it a try. As many of you know I work part-time at our local hospital. Local to me means a 20 mile trip to and from. I live right smack in the middle of no where.
I listened to The Publicist when I was driving.  The minute I got into my Jeep to and from work I turned on the Publicist. I found myself looking forward to the ride to find out what was going on with Kate.
I loved the book ~ I was immediately drawn into the book. The Publicist took me into the life of Kate, MacDermott, Allan, and Nick. I understood why they reacted the way they did. Christina George was excellent at expressing the emotions of each  person addressing their wants, needs and desires. Understanding the publishing business was very interesting and at times extremely stressful for all involved.
I can hardly wait to read/listen to  BOOK TWO ~ Shelf Life!!!!
Lisa Cordileone The narrator of the book was excellent. She was a very good story teller. Her voice was easy to understand. As a child I loved being read to and this was no different.  I really really enjoyed being told the story.

Great News ~ I found out that Shelf Life (Book 2) will be released on audio book in February.  Lisa will also be narrating Shelf Life.  I am really looking forward to hearing what happens next!

Author's Bio:
Christina George has worked in publishing for twenty years (give or take). Here’s what this book isn't. It’s not a slam against publishing (though it is broken) and it’s not a slam against authors (though some of them are crazy). This book is not autobiographical though many of the stories are true. No you won’t know which ones, cause it’s more fun to guess, right? George continues to work in publicity and helps authors because at the end of the day she does love books, she loves publishing, and she loves authors. She hopes you’ll enjoy this romp through Kate’s world as much as she enjoyed creating it.

Cache a Predator by Michelle Weidenbenner

Cache a Predator is a geocaching thriller about a father’s love, justice, and the unhinged game of hide-the-cache.

Officer Brett Reed will do anything to gain custody of his five-year-old daughter, Quinn. But when a judge grants Brett's drug-addicted ex-wife custody and slaps him with a protective order for losing his temper, he fears for Quinn's safety. Who will protect her now?

When Quinn is found abandoned on the streets, she's placed in a temporary foster home until Child Protective Services can complete an assessment. It should only take a few days.

But a lot can happen in a few days.

Especially when there's a deranged psychopath on the loose, someone who's attacking pedophiles, someone who wants to protect children like Quinn, and someone who's planting body parts in geocaching sites.

This book is hidden in cache sites all over the US and Canada with the goal for it to travel to all 50 states. It’s mission is to spread awareness of child abuse and how it harms victims, families, and communities.

Review:
Right away when I starting reading Cache a Predator I was hooked. What a beginning! Michelle had me ~ I wanted to read more. I read the Cache a Predator in one sitting.  My heart felt sorry for Brett and his struggles. I really can not tell you much more about the book. I do not want to spoil any of the amazing things that continue to happen.

All I can say is  make sure you are ready for a amazing read!

Book available from....
Amazon.co.uk   Amazon.com   Barnes & Noble

About Brynn Bancroft
Brynn Bancroft evolved from the Jillian Hillcrest mysteries where she served as Jillian’s manager while Chief Financial Officer of Harmonia Therapeutics in Silicon Valley. A shapely blonde with a MENSA IQ, she had an affair with the CEO of the company. Unfortunately for Brynn, the CEO’s wife figured out that the two were involved and asked Brynn to leave the company, which she agreed to do. In the meantime, her husband, Liam—not unfamiliar with extramarital affairs himself but also understanding that Brynn grew up in an abusive household- grew tired of waiting for Brynn to commit to their relationship and asked for a divorce. At the same time, he solicited her assistance in developing his new winery in Sonoma County, Calif. Much like Jillian--who does appear in the Brynn Bancroft mysteries--Brynn, too, attracts mystery and murders as she grows to enjoy life at her ex-husband’s Hilltop Sunset Winery.

REVIEW
Hilltop Sunset is a excellent mystery novel.  From the minute I started reading the novel - I was hooked. Joyce Strand did an EXCELLENT job keeping me interested in Bryan's adventures.  Extremely interesting novel - kept me wandering what was going to happen next and who was responsible. If you like a great mystery  that is based on actual events - this is a must read for you.

Barking Wednesday ~ ArthroPet

This week on Barking Wednesday I wanted to share with you a product I have been giving Kingers to help with his joint pain.

ArthroPet  is a all natural supplement to help dogs suffering from articular cartilage and connective tissue problems.  When Kingers was 5 years old he hurt his left hind leg. Now that he is 11+ years old he really has issues with his leg.

Two vet visit ago my vet told me to find him a good supplement. My recent visit I told her that I had started Kingers on ArthroPet. She told me that was a very good choice. I was impressed she knew the brand and the company. That made me feel that I was doing the right thing by giving the pill to King.

Giving King the pill is no big deal. I use the pill as a treat. The pill is natural chicken flavor and he likes it.

I also like the fact that our local GNC store carries ArthroPet. Now when we stop for our monthly vitamins we pick up Kings pills.  Or you can order online at Vitamin Shoppe.

I like the fact that ArthroPet is made by NeoCell. A company that I trust or providing quality effective products.

I added ArthroPet to the Barking Wednesday's Dog Holiday Gift Guide.  I gift that taste good as a treat and will help him with his legs.

NeoCell Biotin Bursts

I was given the opportunity to review NeoCell's Biotin Bursts .  Biotin Bursts are chewable goodness loaded with 10,000 mcg of Biotin. Since I had no idea what Biotin was ~ I wanted to know why does my body need Biotin.

Here is what I found out at the University of Maryland Medical Center

  • Biotin is often called Vitamin H - part of the B complex group of vitamins. All B vitamins help the body to convert food (carbohydrates) into fuel (glucose), which is used to produce energy. These B vitamins, often referred to as B complex vitamins, also help the body metabolize fats and protein. B complex vitamins are needed for healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver. They also help the nervous system function properly.
  •  Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin, meaning the body does not store it.
  • Biotin is also important for normal embryonic growth, making it a critical nutrient during pregnancy.
  • Biotin supplements may improve thin, splitting, or brittle toe and fingernails, as well as hair.
  • Research indicates that a combination of biotin and chromium might improve blood sugar control in some people with type 2 diabetes
Make sure to click HERE to read the complete article about Biotin - Vitamin H.

Is Biotin Burst making a difference?  I have added Biotin Bursts to my daily vitamin routine. By taking a good multi-vitamin along with my other NeoCell vitamins I feel great and my hair and nails look better than they even have. I believe in NeoCell - I am a regular at GNC - my way of staying younger both mentally and physically.

godog Bed ZZZ ~ Barking Wednesday

King is in heaven. Recently I removed the carpet from our bedroom. Under the carpet was beautiful hardwood floors. Nice for me - Not so Nice for Kingers. He no longer has a soft place to sleep at night.

I bought a runner for the side of the bed just for him to lay on .... but it still is not enough. He is a 100+ pound Black Lab - a bed that fits him is not easy to find.

THANK YOU godog!!!!!

Check out this pic - he is comfy!
A pic is worth a 100 words. He is comfy and he fits on the bed - all of him! King weighs 100+ pounds - he is a large lab.

The bed is 49 inches long by 30 inches wide. It is 4 inches thick. Perfect to make sleeping comfy.

The godog BedZZZ has Chew Guard Technology which is soft and strong. It will withstand scratching, nesting, and chewing.  I really like the fact that the bed is machine washable. The top of the BedZZZ is made of soft plush and the back is made of sturdy backing.  godog stands behind their product they offer a 30 day guarantee.

We all know if a dog is going to chew it up it will happen right away when you give them something.  When I first took the bed out of the box we were at Dawn's house. Digger wants a godog BedZZZ bad.

Check out this pic of him waiting for Kingers to get up!

Then check out what Diggers does when King does get up - he proceeds to try to chew it up!
NO LUCK - with godog Chew Guard Technology the bed stayed in one piece! I must say Digger being a 45 pound 5 month old Yellow Lab Puppy he can chew up stuff FAST!  I was impressed with the BedZZZ.

Holiday Bliss is book 2 in the Bliss series-- It comprises three romantic novellas by three different authors--set in different era's, in one home on the water called, Bliss.

Tending Her Heart by Kathleen Shoop
Julie Peters' plans to modernize Waterside Hospital's labor and delivery protocols are thwarted by old school doctors and brown-nosing colleagues. But a handsome doctor who understands her point-of-view has a fine bedside manner and a way of Tending Her Heart that has forever-after attached to it. Can a Thanksgiving stay in the regal home called Bliss give her the space she needs to right her future and fall in love?
Review ~ Tending her Heart by Kathleen Shoop
A story of a strong woman all alone searching for what is right. Right in all areas of her life.  Wonderful feel good story for the holidays.

The Christmas Miracle by Marcy Waldenville
Brenan Brown has a terrible secret. One his beautiful wife doesn't know about. One that could destroy his happiness and his family. One he'd thought he buried along with his former identity in a grave in Ireland. But shady characters--terrorists really--from his past come to the stately mansion with blackmail and kidnapping on their minds. And with his family's after at risk, his future in peril, all Brenan can hope for is The Christmas Miracle.
Review ~ The Christmas Miracle by  Marcy Waldenville
The Christmas Miracle is a short story set in the 1920's about the importance of staying true to yourself and your beliefs. How we each can change and make a difference. Who was Brennan? Was he evil or good? Very good short story  focusing on the Christmas holiday.

Holiday Wish by JD Wylde
Vaughn Jennings has one rule he refuses to break. Not even for Chelsea Chathford, the curvaceous master carpenter he employs. With just reason. But with every day that goes by, it gets harder and harder to follow his rule. Can he follow his heart? Or forever wish he had? Because Christmas comes but once a year. And with it, the only chance to have his Holiday Wish come true.
Review ~ Holiday Wish by J.D. Wylde
Holiday Wish is a feel good holiday short story. A perfect story about Rules are Made to be Broken.

All three of these short stories were fun reads. They each expressed the spirit of the holiday season.  I highly recommend this book as a perfect book to read while sitting by the Christmas tree on a chilly winter night.

This book would also be a perfect early Christmas gift for any reader on your shopping list. Excellent for Secret Santa gift!

NEW RELEASE of Flirting With Love ~ Giveaway Ends 11/26

BRAND NEW RELEASE of
FLIRTING WITH LOVE is the newest addition to the BRADEN series by New York Times & USA Today bestselling and award-winning author Melissa Foster. This contemporary romance series features alpha male heroes and sexy, empowered women. They’re flawed, funny, passionate, and very relatable to readers who enjoy new adult romance, contemporary romance, and women’s fiction.
IN FLIRTING WITH LOVE… Elisabeth Nash has spent years dreaming of returning to the small town of Trusty, Colorado, where she spent summers with her favorite aunt. When she inherits her aunt’s farmette, she closes her Los Angeles pet bakery and pampering business, sure that life in Trusty will be as peaceful and as welcoming as she remembers. But being an outsider in the close-knit town proves to be very different from the happy summers she remembers from her childhood—and falling for Trusty’s hot, wealthy, and sinfully irresistible veterinarian, Ross Braden, sends the rumor mill into a frenzy.

Ross Braden learned long ago that gossip spreads faster than weeds in his small hometown, and Ross loves nothing more than his privacy. For that reason, he doesn’t date women who live in Trusty. But that was before blond, beautiful, and refreshingly honest Elisabeth Nash flew into his vet clinic seeking help for her panicked piglet and turned his comfortable life—and his heart—inside out.

Despite rumors about Elisabeth’s motives toward her aunt’s property, passion brews between Elisabeth and Ross. Every steamy kiss and every sensual touch brings the pair closer together, and when Ross helps Elisabeth try to fit into the town he adores, it makes their bond even stronger. But even Elisabeth’s efforts toward reaching the community, and the love she and Ross so desperately believe in, might not be enough for the protective small town to offer them a future.

Arthritis Relief

As many of you know I have terrible arthritis. I have had arthritis for as long as I can remember. I have been lucky to be able to continue what I love to do while dealing with arthritis. This past year my arthritis has been so bad that I have had to limit my glass making. Cutting glass by hand was getting way too painful.  Each holiday I always love to make my friends and family glass gifts. I was worried that this year that was not going to
happen.

When I was asked to review Zim's Max-Freeze I thought sure - why not. I am always looking for a pain relieving product for my hands.  The fact that Max-Freeze is formulated with naturally-based ingredients was a huge plus.

Max-Freeze sprays on clear with a refreshing soothing scent. What is nice is the product absorbs into your skin quickly and the scent disappears. I really like the fact that the scent vanishes leaving no scent at all.  Smelling like pain reliever always clashes with my Tresor!

My hands are especially sore by my wrist and all around my thumb. I have to say the Max-Freeze makes a huge improvement. I am surprised at how the Max-Freeze was able to eliminate much of the pain.

I wondered if the Max-Freeze would continue to work if I used it for a while. It does! I have been using Max-Freeze for about a month and I am happy to say that when I used it before typing this post - it was able to make typing much more pleasant. In fact my can is empty  - so time for me to head to the store to buy more. I like the fact that Max-Freeze is available at my local Walgreen's.

I wanted to share Max-Freeze's ingredients with you. Check it out - all natural and some are organic.
  • Natural Menthol 3.7% (Purpose: Topical Analgesic)
Inactive Ingredients: *Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, *Arnica Montana Extract, Camphor, Carbomer, Ethylhexylglycerin, *Ilex Paraguariensis Leaf Extract, Isopropyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Tea Tree Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Water.* Indicates certified organic.
You know how I told you I was worried I would not be able to make some special glass gifts. Well that is not the case thanks to Max-Freeze.  Here are two bracelets that I am giving to my sister-in-law as this post goes live. We are meeting her and Dave at a casino in northern Wisconsin for a two day getaway.  Darla is a Blue Moon Beer drinker and a huge Packer fan. I made her a bracelet from a Blue Moon bottle and added a orange. Plus, a cut glass Packer bracelet with a bee. They are the owners of D's B's Honey.  Me making a Packer bracelet is something that I am not that fond of considering I am a huge BEAR fan!

Since I reviewed Max-Freeze I have also tried the Max-Freeze Gel - I like it too!

Hand Knitted Scarves

Years ago when Dawn was small I taught her how to hand knit - no needles - knitting by only using her hands and arms. Back then I crocheted all the time. Dawn would take my scraps of yarn and hand knit.  Hand knitting was something that my father taught me when I was young. He told me that his great grandmother taught him. My great great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee Indian - I am sure they did not call it hand knitting in my grandmothers time.

Yesterday Dawn called and asked if I wanted to go to Michael's for yard so we could Hand Knit a Scarf.  When we got back to Dawn's house - I was amazed how fast she remembered to hand knit. It has been years since I taught her.  I asked her - How did you think to make a Hand Knitted Scarf? She told me how popular they were - Who would of thought that years later a Hand Knitted Scarf would be so popular.
There are so many tutorials online to learn how to hand knit. Check them out.

When you Hand Knit you do not use any needles. You use your hands and arms as needles. Working from right to left moving the yard from side to side just like you do on needles.

The secret to hand knitting is patience. It takes patience to learn. When Dawn was a child teaching her how to hand knit was something that she spent hours learning. Now she is a Mom and I was so amazed that 30 years later she could pick up the yarn and hand knit.

Once you figure out how to hand knit - you will be able to make a scarf in about 30 minutes. You work from one hand to another - always keep the yard that you will be using in the hand with the stitches on your arm.

Well - with many Christmas gifts on Dawn's list and a mother that wants a bunch of scarves in different colors and textures. We are headed back to Michael's for more yarn.
