Do You Have the Courage to Be You? by Jenny Williamson

You were created on purpose for a purpose.

Let that thought sink deep into who you are—deep into a place where logic cannot interrupt. Contemplate your own uniqueness. Let yourself become pregnant with the possibility there is something distinctive that you and only you were created to do. Ponder this fact—if you don’t dream it, create it, write it, tell it, sing it, or build it—“it” won’t ever be done. Ignore the negative voices attempting to tell you another story. Dare to believe that you have a water walking, giant slaying, history making destiny that will change you and your world.
I understand believing in a purpose and discovering it are two different things. Finding the answers to the age-old questions “Who am I?” and “What am I supposed to be doing?” can seem daunting, ambiguous, and unattainable, especially when you are already overwhelmed by the demands placed upon you — paying the bills, going to work, raising kids, attending school and meeting everyone else’s expectations. A journey of purpose can end up on the bottom of your already long, list of things to do as excuses are offered to rationalize, why there is no time to contemplate or pursue our unique purpose.
However, I believe buried beneath the excuses is the real truth. Most of us just do not believe we even have a purpose. That belief can defeat us before we even begin forcing us to return to our routines, responsibilities, and lives filled trivia and mediocrity. I know, because that is exactly what I believed and what I did for years until I heard a question whispered to my heart …

Do you have the courage to be you?
Another whisper – you were created on purpose for a purpose - created a longing inside me to matter and make a difference. They both led me down a path that was not well marked or frequented by others I knew. I felt alone and afraid but in spite of those feelings, I was determined to be and do all I was created to. Though tangible resources were scare, I pursued my purpose one day at a day, vowing that quitting was not an option. My journey changed my life and led me to a group of vulnerable children – children being sold for sex.
I wonder where your journey will lead you. It is urgent you find the courage to be and do all you were created for.
I wasted so much time and experienced so much frustration in trying to find my purpose simply because I did not have someone to guide and encourage me. I do not want you to experience the same thing. I want to expedite your journey so I started an organization, Courage Worldwide and wrote a book, Do you have the courage to be you? to do just that. Buy it. Read it and take courage! The world is waiting for you to be you.

When I read "You were created specifically on purpose for a purpose." I immediately thought about myself. What was I born to do or be? "Have I failed in meeting that goal?" I asked myself.

Then I started reading Do You Have the Courage to Be You.  I believe in God and I also believe that everything happens for a reason. We are meant to do and be who we are at times in our lives.  I found Jenny's book to be very on track to guiding me to make positive change. Learning what is important and what is not - also why things are important.

I am currently in one of the hardest times of my life. Watching my mother age and ensuring her last days are meant with the highest dignity and making sure that her wants are met. I have spend years caring for others - now is my time to care for my mom.  Do You Have the Courage to Be You I honestly think is helping me stay focused and understand me and my needs during this time.

I've read Do You Have the Courage to Be You once - which for me is not enough. I will be reading it again. I really think Do You Have the Courage to Be You will be a book that will become a resource for me - when I have the feeling I am lost - Do You Have the Courage to Be You will help me find my way.
