Under the Black Ensign by L. Ron Hubbard

Long before Captain Jack Sparrow raised hell with the Pirates of the Caribbean, Tom Bristol sailed to hell and back Under the Black Ensign. That’s where the real adventure begins.
Bristol’s had plenty of bad luck in his life. Press-ganged into serving aboard a British vessel, he’s felt the cruel captain’s lash on his back. Then, freed from his servitude by pirates, his good fortune immediately takes a bad turn . . . as the pirates accuse him of murder—and leave him to die on a deserted island. Now all he has left are a few drops of water, a gun, and just enough bullets to put himself out of his misery.
But Bristol’s luck is about to change. Finding himself in the unexpected company of a fiery woman and a crafty crew, he unsheathes his sword, raises a pirate flag of his own, and sets off to make love and war on the open seas.

Bright Time Buddies ~ Buy One Get One FREE

I was given the opportunity to review Bright Time Buddies. We were given the Unicorn for review.

Being afraid of the dark is not age specific. I for one am not a fan of darkness. I do not like a total dark home at night. I am the person with the light on in one of the rooms.
Isa also is not a darkness fan.

The Bright Time Buddies is a excellent way to have a light at your fingertips.  The buddy is easy to hold and is bright enough to shine the area you are in.  The sense of security you have when you have a light in your hand is amazing. The cute characters make having a light fun. No one needs to know it is a light - only the owner knows.  Which makes it perfect for Isa to take on sleepovers. She has her security light and no one thinks anything about it because it is a adorable unicorn.
Now is a perfect time to pick up some holiday gifts.

Making sure that Diesel is healthy and active is so very important to me. Diesel is my partner in crime...we are a Team.  When I was asked to test  Pinnacle® Pet Foods. I was impressed with the Pinnacle's quality vision ~ Make quality dog food with the highest quality natural ingredients and continue to strive to make their dog food healthier. Explaining their decision to go Grain Free in May of 2015.

After a month of eating Pinnacle I am happy to say that Diesel loves it! I am also happy ~ I have noticed positive changes in Diesel's bowel system. He is very regular and his stools are smaller. He is also very satisfied after mealtime.  Making for a healthy happy pup.

I was so impressed with Pinnacle that I purchased a bag of Pinnacle to take with Diesel and I when we went to Dawn's house to watch the kids and Digger while her and Dave took a get-a-way trip to Florida.  Digger is also now a fan of Pinnacle.

Check out this pic of Digger and Diesel watching the kids get on the school bus. Watching Isa and Davey get on the school bus each morning is their job. Gosh you can see the love in their eyes while they keep watch over the kids.

The pic of the Digger & Disel kissing I think is adorable. When Dawn seen these pics the first thing out of her mouth was "Mom, do you let Diesel walk on my tables while you are here by yourself?" Shocked!!! I said "Who me?"  She gave me her best Mom look and we laughed!  Digger and Diesel are full of so much love. Two of my bestest buddies are definitely worth the best food I can find. Improve your Indoor Air Quality

Indoor Air Pollution is a serious issue. So often people only speak about outdoor pollution forgetting about indoor pollution.

Do you want cleaner indoor air?

If so ...... check out these easy ways to make your indoor cleaner and fresher.

1. Use only green cleaning products. Make your own - below are a few simple cleaning recipes.
2. Change your furnace filter every month.
3. If you have carpet - vacuum daily.
4. Make sure to have a Radon detector in your home. A Radon detector is as important as house fire alarms.
5. Do not allow smoking in your home.
6. Keep humidity levels at the correct level of humidity.  You can purchase a humidly level gauge at many local department stores - they are inexpensive and worth every penny. A properly humid home also saves on heating cost.

All Purpose Cleaner
2 cup of water
1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol
5 Tbsp. Dawn dish soap

Mix together and place in a reusable spray bottle

In your toilet bowl sprinkle with baking soda.  Then sprinkle with vinegar - Allow to soak for at least 35 minutes then scrub with toilet brush

Furniture Polish
1/2 Cup of Olive Oil
1/2 Cup of White Distilled Vinegar
I like Orange Essential Oil - add about 1 teaspoon
(you can add whatever essential oil scent you like)
Shake Really Good!
Put in a reusable spray bottle.
Spray on wood - rub into the wood - polish

A Perfect Sunday!

Yesterday Dawn and I had such a fun time. We had the opportunity to be a guest at  Master Chef's Katrina Kozar cooking demonstration at the Milwaukee Public Market.  Katrina shared her recipe for Jicama-slaw and Sloppy Joses.  Using healthy ingredients is important to Katrina ~ food that taste great and is also good for you.
We are a fan of Master Chef. Katrina Kozar was our favorite in Season 6.  In person she is exactly like she was on the show. Intense ~ Driven ~ Honest ~ Passionate and very very Nice.  She made cooking fun and I must say her Jicama-slaw and Sloppy Joses was DELICIOUS!

So tasty that Dawn plans on making them for us this week. Dawn loves to cook ~ every recipe she makes is full of passion and love. Watching Katrina this past season ~ Dawn would cry when Katrina cried - Dawn felt Katrina's strong desire to make the best food she could.

Katrina has a website - if you love to cook and love tasty food - sign up to subscribe to her webpage. She post some very tasty recipes.

When we were leaving the market - I looked at Dawn and said...gosh you and Katrina could be best friends.

#BarkingWednesday ~ Dog Separation Anxiety

Yes, Diesel has Separation Anxiety.  Diesel did not like to be left alone. Not for even a few minutes. He would panic every time - Cry, Bark, Bowel Movements, Shake, and Thrash so hard in his kennel that the screws would come lose.

Here is what we did to resolve some of Diesel's fear:

Our first thought was his kennel. It had to be the kennel. We proceeded to try all different sizes of kennels. We purchased a Small crate -it did not help. X-Large wire kennel - it did not help. Large crate - it did not help.  Finally we purchased a Medium crate that he seemed to like.

Everything I read and was told was to get a kennel that he could go inside turn around and lay down. That being said he did not like the small kennel which was perfect for him. The Medium crate is too big for him - but he liked it.

We filled his kennel with a blanket and a few of his favorite toys that he could not chew to pieces.

Then we started leaving him alone. We would put him in his kennel and my hubby and I would go outside and sit on the deck. We would keep him in the kennel for 5 minutes. When we got back in the house we would let him out of the crate and praise him. While we were doing our 5 minutes daily GONES - we also put the crate in the living room and would put him in it for 15 minutes while we sat and watched TV at nighttime. We were all in the living room, my hubby in his chair, me on the couch, and Diesel in his kennel.  We did that for about 3 hours...15 minutes of each hour he spent in his kennel.

We gradually increased the minutes of being alone inside and being in his kennel in the living room. When we got to one hour for both - we were ready to give the kennel a try for us really being gone.

I still remember our first trip to the store while Diesel was in his kennel.  When we got home after being away for two hours...we were both excited to see how Diesel did alone. We were both pleasantly blessed - Diesel was fine. Happy to see he was not stressed.

I know some are saying...of course those crates would not work.... that may be so but we were willing to do anything to help Diesel through this issue. We were trying everything we could think of...I am glad we tried numerous sizes...because the Medium was want he liked.

To this day we still put Diesel in the kennel and go outside - we want to make sure he does not slid backwards. For a few minutes each night we put him in his kennel  while we watch TV.  We are very determined to make sure he feels safe ~ I think this will be Diesel's life time routine.

When I talked to Diesel's vet about what we have done he was very pleased about Diesel's progress.  He explained there is no solution that works for every dog when it comes to Separation Anxiety.  We were lucky - we were able to help Diesel with no medication. Thank goodness because medication was something we did not want to do -but we were willing if we had no other choice.

I am happy to say that Diesel can now be in his kennel up to 6 hours with no issues. It took us time and effort ~ but it was well worth it. Diesel feels safe while we are gone.

There is a Silver Lining ....  Our local no kill shelter is super pleased..they just got three new kennels.

The definition of Separation Anxiety per Wikipedia:
Separation anxiety in dogs describes a condition in which a dog exhibits distress and behavior problems when separated from its handler. Separation anxiety typically manifests within 30 minutes of departure of the handler.[1] It is not fully understood why some dogs suffer from separation anxiety and others do not.[2] The behavior may be secondary to an underlying medical condition.[3] A visit to the veterinarian is always recommended if a dog's behavior changes suddenly.

#BarkingWednesday ~ Benefits of Coconut Oil

This Barking Wednesday I wanted to share a great way to treat Dry Dog Paws.   Digger my grand-doggie runs outside on gravel. His  family lives on a farm.   One of the down falls of running on gravel is dry paws.

To make sure Digger's paws stay healthy Dawn rubs Coconut Oil on Digger's paws.
Check out the benefits of Coconut Oil.

We also use Coconut Oil to prevent skin infections on Diesel and Digger.  We apply Coconut Oil on all minor cuts that the dogs have. Coconut Oil is also great for healing skin rashes on the dogs.

I have a small plastic container with coconut oil. Since we all use Coconut Oil on our skin we wanted a container just for the dogs.

I also want to share with everyone the importance of touching your dogs paws. I like to rub Diesel's paws while we are relaxing. This helps get Diesel  used to his paws being touched when we need to trim his nails, check for cuts, and apply coconut oil to his paws.
A pic of my precious Digger.

Holiday Gift Guide

Shopping Online

Owning an online business can be an easy way for customers to search through the items that are for sale based on their own time. They can shop even when a physical store isn't open. One of the things that you need to consider with an online business is the shopping cart. There are a few things to look for when installing shopping cart software and when choosing s program for customers to use. There are some features that you want to consider getting over others so that there is an easy shopping experience for both the customer and yourself as an owner.

You want to find a program that will display large images of the products that are sold. The pictures are the only way that customers are able to see what is offered since they won't be in the store. You want to make sure there are several pictures of the items sold at different angles so that the customer can get a clear idea of what the item looks like.

When there are online shopping carts, it makes the online experience convenient. The cart will allow shoppers to save the items that they want and return at a later time to complete the purchase if they don't want to complete it at that moment. It's also convenient for those who might not have the money for the transaction at the time they are looking online and need to wait until a later time for money to be on a card to pay for the items.

The online shopping cart will offer protection for the customer when shopping online. All of the information related to the purchase concerning debit or credit card numbers is kept secure even though the customer enters personal information. The buyer can see exactly what is chosen on the website as it sits in the shopping cart. Before checking out, the customer has the opportunity to remove anything that is not wanted or add other items to the cart. The customer can also increase the quantity of items that are in the shopping cart before completing the purchase.
