Craft Supply Organization Tips

Whether you have a craft room or an area in your home designated for creating your masterpieces, it can easily go from being neat and organized to a creative mess in no time. The next thing you know, touches of glitter can be found on your bathroom floor and cabinet handles. If this describes your crafting experience, here are useful organizational tips that will help you get your mess in control and creative talent flowing:

Ribbon Holder
It's hard to store and organize spools of ribbon and rolls of colorful washi tape that so many crafters use for a variety of neat projects. Paint a wood bracelet holder in a vibrant color, and store your spools of ribbon and tape on the dowels of it for a pretty yet functional storage option.

Shower Caddy
Transform a wall-mount shower caddy into a craft storage center. You can store instructional books, sewing patterns, cards and envelopes on the shelves, and hang scissors, ribbon and other tools down below.

Embroidery Floss
For those who use embroidery floss for crafting, know how easily it can become a tangled mess resembling a bird's nest. Wrap each strand of embroidery floss around a clothespin, and put the end of it securely under the bottom part of the clothespin that automatically snaps closed.

Printer Trays
You can often find printer trays at flea markets and thrift stores. Printer trays are ideal for organizing craft supplies including ribbon, scrap booking supplies and beads. You can place your trays across your crafting table or on shelves next to your working area for easy access.

Color Block Pegboards
Brighten up your work space with a couple of pieces of pegboard painted in bold colors that can also be used as storage. Hang them side by side on one of the walls in your crafting area. You can hang small storage racks, scissors and a variety of craft supplies from hooks placed in the holes of the pegboard pieces.

Standing Shoe Cubby
Paint a standing shoe cubby in a vibrant color that coordinates with your crafting area. In some of the compartments, you can also place decorative baskets and boxes. You can store a sewing machine or other crafting devices on top of your standing shoe unit. You can store everything from scrapbook paper to fabric and a glue gun to other crafting necessities in the baskets and compartments of the standing shoe organizer.

Bathroom Accessories
Turn lovely bathroom accessories into crafty storage. Use a pretty toothbrush holder for storing markers, small paint brushes and pencils and a soap dish for little things like buttons, beads and business cards. Vintage Teacups

Teacups make unique and pretty little storage solutions for jewelry makers or any crafter who uses small parts to make their creations. Tape your vintage teacups to the bottom of a shelf or drawer to keep them from tipping over or sliding around.

These helpful and creative organizing tips will help you keep your crafting area organized, pretty and supplies easily accessible for the utmost productivity.

#BarkingWednesday ~ Xylitol Kills Dogs

This is the time of year that many people make dog treats for their fur babies.  Make sure to check ingredients of products you use for the treats. Xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs. Xylitol can be found in many low fat versions of products.  One I know for sure is Low Fat Peanut Butter.

A very small amount of Xylitol can kill your dog.
Xylitol is estimated to  be 100 times as toxic as chocolate to dogs

Click HERE  for a great guide on products that contain Xylitol.

Has it been your dream.....................

Has it been your dream to open your own ice cream shop? Will you be making that dream become a reality in the near future? If this is the case, you need to make sure that everything looks professional when customers eventually start to make their way into your shop. This means that you need to have all of the necessary supplies in place. The question of where these supplies should be acquired can be a difficult one. However, you will be able to find what you need if you take some time and do some looking around. Here are a few ideas about where to buy supplies for your ice cream shop.

1. Retail stores
The large retail stores will sell most of the supplies you will need to effectively run your ice cream shop. However, the price you will pay when you buy your supplies from a retail store will most likely be slightly higher than some of your other alternatives. Retail stores are a good place to buy a small amount of supplies if you run out and you do not want to wait the time it takes for an online order to arrive. However, buying all of your supplies from a retail store will not be cost effective in the long run.

2. Specialty websites
The Internet is a fabulous tool that you should be taking advantage of in order to save money while opening your new ice cream business. There are many specialty websites that you can buy your supplies from. These sites specifically sell the supplies you will need to open your ice cream shop. This includes tasting spoons, cups, cup lids, cone holders and many other items. You will be able to save a lot of money compared to what retail stores will charge you for the same items. Most of these sites will give you a discount if you order in bulk. Gelato Products sells supplies for ice cream shops. You can view their inventory by going to

3. Auction sites
Certain ice cream shops may order more supplies than they need. Other stores may go out of business. These shops often try to sell their unused inventories of supplies quickly by putting them up for sale on auction sites. You might be able to find yourself a great deal if you happen to be browsing the listings at the right time.

Fall and Winter Festival Ideas

Fall and Winter Carnivals
Leaves changing, cold weather moving in and snow beginning to fall; these are all signs that winter is near. Don’t get depressed thinking about it when you can create fun ways to celebrate the changing seasons. Many times your school or church organization needs a way to raise money for equipment or trips and what a great way to bring life to the community by holding a carnival appropriate for the season.

Theme and Decorations
First you will want to create a theme, but this shouldn’t be difficult since there are many different props that can be used. Fall produces many pumpkins so why not hold a pumpkin festival? Make the environment fun and inviting by decorating with hay bales and pumpkins. Fall colors such as orange, deep red and brown are great colors to mix into the theme. Add a mixture of apples and call it an orchard fest!

Location and Attractions
Pick a venue that will accommodate the amount of attractions you want to feature. If it is a fundraiser you are looking to host, then perhaps you will want to charge an admission fee. Try and feature an equal share of indoor and outdoor activities to make the most use of the space and don’t forget fall food favorites like turkey legs, hot chocolate and kettle corn!

Some fun activities may include:
Pumpkin or Gourd Decorating Contest

A perfect way to raise money! Kids can purchase the pumpkin or gourd of their choice and then go to a fun table filled with paints and glitter to begin making their creation. Placing the finished items on display in such a place as a stage will not only make them feel proud for what they have done, but it will be an easy way to judge the contest. Judging can be performed by the general public or a specified group of volunteers. Gift cards and dollar store items make great gifts. Soliciting from area businesses can also be another way of gaining prizes.

Arts & Crafts Booth
Everyone knows that arts and crafts can be a fun way for children to show off their creativity. Offer the children a variety of leaves to choose from and let them decorate the leaves with paints and glitters. Provide scraps of construction paper, paper plates, crayons, markers and safety scissors, allowing their imaginations to flow with creativity.

Photo Booth
There is no better way to make fun and lasting memories than with photos! Offer silly props and colorful backdrops to make this attraction exciting and enjoyable. The initial photo booth can be free, but offer the final pictures for a small fee. Selling accessories such as frames or albums would be another great way to add to the fun while raising money for that field trip.

Snowman Contest
If the climate allows, feature a snowman contest by providing a large area of participation and a time frame. Offer a variety of fun props to add to the snowman and when time is up everyone must stop the task and wait for judging. Once again, a selected group of volunteers can be chosen for judging and fun prizes should be handed out to participants.

Ice Fishing Contest
Another fun contest that can be performed in a real lake filled with real fish for adults, or a swimming pool filled with toy fish for children. The goal of this competition can vary according to size or amount of fish caught within a certain amount of time.

Whatever theme or event you choose, remember that people will also be attracted to musical events as well as plenty of seasonal foods and warm drinks. Start advertising at least one month in advance by using colorful banners and fliers. Scout the community for donations of prizes. Use colorful signs above each booth and add balloons for an additional feature. Have fun and stay warm!

#BayerExpertCare ~ Moisturizing Dog Shampoo

This post is sponsored by Bayer® ExpertCareTM and the BlogPaws Influencer Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about Bayer ExpertCare products but Green and Glassie only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Bayer ExpertCare is not responsible for the content of this article.

I often wonder what is the difference between dog shampoos and which shampoo is best for Diesel.
In the next three months I will be testing three Bayer® ExpertCareTM shampoo products.

The products I will be testing are:
ExpertCare Moisturizing Shampoo
ExpertCare Itch Relief Shampoo
ExpertCare Coat Cleansing Foam

Diesel's first review is on the Bayer ExpertCare Moisturizing Shampoo.

As you can see from the pic the shampoo has a nice later. The smell is amazing...wish this pic had smell-a-vision. Yes, Diesel is in our bath tub. It is November in Wisconsin and way to cold to give him a outside bath.

I really like the Bayer ExpertCare Moisturizing Shampoo.  Diesel is enjoying his shampoo. Whenever he stands still and lets me later and massage the shampoo into his fur I know he likes it. Being a Smooth Fox Terrier ~ Diesel is a little on the active side. So standing still for bath is a plus!
He smells fantastic. A very clean fresh smell.
When Diesel was all dry - his fur was so soft. Hug-able Soft!

What do I want from Bayer ExpertCare Moisturizing Shampoo?

Winter in Wisconsin is cold and long. Skin dries out fast and keeping skin moisturized is hard and a ongoing battle. I am looking for a shampoo that will help Diesel's skin stay moisturized and prevent dryness. It has been two weeks since Diesel's bath. I have noticed less shedding and less dander. The clean fresh smell is still lingering and his fur is still extremely soft.

A little about the Moisturizing Shampoo - it is a hypoallergenic shampoo that is excellent for routine shampooing. The shampoo is a soap-free shampoo made with moisturizers and essential fatty acids that not only clean but replenish moisture and help protect Diesel's skin.

The shampoo comes in a 12 fluid oz bottle with a easy to open and close cap - making opening and closing the bottle with one hand easy to manage. I am a one hand on the dog and one hand on the shampoo bottle dog washer.

After using Bayer ExpertCare Moisturizing Shampoo I defiantly would recommend the shampoo for all dogs.  I found the shampoo to be a positive for Diesel ~ Fresh scent - Moisturizing - Nice Later.

Check out what made my trip to PetSmart a little sweeter. I not only found quality products for Diesel & Digger I also took advantage of their SALE!  Quality products on SALE is a WIN WIN!!!! I can always trust Petmart to get me the best deal possible on all of Diesel's products.
