#PinnacleHealthyPets ~ Diesel travels to Cowboy Country

This post is sponsored by Pinnacle and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping create awareness about Pinnacle's Newly Formulated Grain Free Dog Food, but Green and Glassie only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Pinnacle is not responsible for the content of this article.

These past two weeks I have been camping and traveling the west with Diesel and my family. What a great experience to be able to enjoy my trip with my best bud! One of my favorite places that we played tourist was Yellowstone National Park.  If you have not visited Yellowstone...you really need to add it to your Bucket List.

When asked what was my favorite experience at Yellowstone - my response is always the same.  Seeing the Grizzly Bear up close in the wild was and is one of the greatest thrills for me.

Check out this pic....the grizzly was walking across the road into the woods. When we
stopped at the location of the grizzly -  there was  a Park Ranger there to ensure everyone was a safe distance from the bear.  The pic does not give the bear justice - he was HUGE!!! and BEAUTIFUL!!!!

When we travel we always stay at locations that are pet friendly. KOA Campgrounds are great for dogs. They have a fenced in exercise area that is a great place for Diesel to burn

off  energy from traveling all day.  This is a pic of the dog exercise park at the Badlands KOA. As you can see it is a good size and has some fun areas for Diesel to check out.

Making travel fun and easy with Diesel is as important to us as making sure Diesel has the best nutrition.  We only feed Diesel natural quality dog food.  Have you heard of Pinnacle® Pet Foods?  Pinnacle is a natural holistic pet food company located in California. All of their products are Grain Free ~ American Made using quality ingredients like quinoa, pumpkin, kelp, flax seed, blueberries, sweet potatoes and cottage cheese.

Voice Lessons To Go ~ by Ariella Vaccarino

Isa has always wanted to be a professional singer. When she was three she would act like
she was on American Idol. She would sing and perform a song. Now she is 11 and very interested in being a part of Burlington's theater group called the Hayloafters.  Since we live in farm country professional singing lessons would mean a 50 mile round trip to a singing instructor.  With school and swimming there left no time for a 50 miles trip during the week for singing lessons.

When I was given the opportunity for Isa to review Voice Lesson To Go she was super excited.

Voice Lesson to Go  is a set of CD's designed by Ariella Vaccarino a singing teacher. Her desire was to reach singers like Isa  - singers that did have have the advantage of having voice lessons in their area.  With Voice Lessons To Go anyone can improve their own singing voice in their home.

Here is a video of her singing exercise to help you sing in tune.

Ariella Vaccarino also offers personal voice assessments.  Which is perfect for anyone interested in developing their singing voice.  One on One professional feedback to help you improve your singing voice.

Isa has started the Volume 1 Voice Lessons to Go for Kids.
She has been practicing daily after school and also with her friends.
She has recruited her best friend Olivia to join her in the singing lessons.

We are very pleased with the CD. It is a perfect way to help Isa reach her goal of singing in the theater group and also a great activity for her and her friends.

The book includes 60+ DIY projects for homeowners, gardeners, tinkerers, and more.

Why just reuse a bucket when you can reinvent it?

Five-gallon buckets are ubiquitous and cheap (indeed, they are often free). But did you know they can also be hacked, hot-rodded, reengineered, and upcycled to create dozens of useful DIY projects for homeowners, gardeners, small-scale farmers, and preppers? 5-Gallon Bucket Book contains 60+ ideas that put these humble and hard-working mainstays to work past their prime and keep them out of landfills. Simple step-by-step instructions, as well as parts lists and images of the completed projects, make sure you will have fun and love the results of your work.

Projects include perfect additions to your yard and garden, tools to care for your animals, useful innovations, handy home helpers, and even family-oriented designs! They range from simple things such as chicken feeders to much more complex projects (small room air conditioner, anyone?). For anyone who doesn't already have fifteen of them cluttering up the garage, 5-Gallon Bucket Book also offers advice on where to get cheap and free buckets and how to tell if a bucket is safe to use for food.

Bee - Wasp - Hornet Stings

It is Bee - Hornet - Wasp Season in Wisconsin!
           Hornet/Wasp                                   Bee

Here are effective ways to help once you are stung:

Bee Sting - It is the best to remove the stinger by scraping the area sideways. A bees stinger is barred like a fish hook. The stinger will come out much easier if you use a side motion to remove the stinger. Make a paste of water and baking soda. Put the paste on the sting - cover with gauze, apply ice and wrap tight.

Wasp/Hornet Sting - Hornets and wasp do not leave a stinger in your skin. Place a cotton ball saturated with Cider Vinegar on the hornet/wasp sting. Apply ice and wrap.

So often people say they were stung by a bee...when in fact it was a hornet/wasp. Hornets and wasp sting much more than bees.

WEB MD has some very good information
about insect stings.
If at any time you have a allergic reaction to a insect sting/bite seek immediate medical attention.

#BarkingWednesday ~ Antifreeze Kills

Living in Wisconsin this time of year everyone is getting their vehicles ready for cold winter weather. Antifreeze is a must in our area. We need antifreeze to keep our vehicles running during the cold winter month. But it is important as pet owners to know the dangers of antifreeze.

Did you know that ANTIFREEZE is DEADLY to a DOG?

Antifreeze is considered the most common form of poison for dogs & cats.  The toxin ethylene glycol is what makes antifreeze so dangerous for both dogs and cats. The important thing to remember is that it does not take a lot of antifreeze to KILL your dog or cat. Even licking the antifreeze that drips on the cement or blacktop from a car radiator can cause dead. Less than 3 ounces can KILL a medium size dog.

Per Pet MD here are the symptoms of dog & cat antifreeze poisoning:
~ Drunken Behavior
~ Euphoria
~ Delirium
~ Wobbly - uncontrolled movements
~ Nausea - Vomitting
~ Diarrhea
~ Rapid Heart Rate
~ Depression
~ Weakness
~ Seizures
~ Convulsions
~ Shaking Tremors
~ Fainting
~ Coma

If you think your dog or cat has
been in contact with antifreeze ~ IMMEDIATELY
contact your VET!

Fools Gold Series by Susan Mallery

I am currently reading a really good contemporary romance series written by Susan Mallery.  The series is about a town called Fools Gold - located in California.  Each book is about a member of the Fool's Gold Community.  The stories are real...book #5 really hit home to me. It is about a Doctor that specializes in burn victims.  In 2010 my hubby was burned over 20% of his body. Susan does an excellent job of writing about burns and the impact they take on the victim and the family.

I like to buy the Kindle version and also Whispersync. I love being able to read the book then go to audio while driving or working around the house.  If you have not tried Whispersync I recommend you give it a try. The Kindle version and Whispersync work together - with the two you never lose your place - they work together to make reading and listening fun.

#BarkingWednesday ~ Fall Season is here

Fall is almost here! Time to get Diesel ready for the changes in temps. Living in Wisconsin we have all four season. Fall is our time to get everything ready for when winter arrives.
This will be Diesel's first Fall Season - he is 9 months old and I am sure WINTER is going to be a shocker for him.

Here are the five things we have on our MUST DO DOG list to get ready for winter:

1. Arrange the items on the back deck to give Diesel the most room when winter hits. I know the back deck will be Diesel's main play area in winter months. Since Diesel is small and we get a lot of snow...keeping the deck shoveled so he can play will be important.

2. Find him warm clothes to wear for winter months. I have two nice coats I bought at the Pet Expo  - they fit him great.  I need to buy some Paw Boots for him. With the cold and ice I know he will need paw protection.

3. Fall is a great time for us to work daily on obedience. It was a hot humid summer so we were a little relaxed on obedience this summer. Now with cooler temps this is perfect weather for working outside to improve his obedience skills.

4. Stock up on Pet Friendly DeIcer for the deck, sidewalks and driveway. When winter hits in Wisconsin finding Pet Friendly DeIcer can be a hard task.  I like to stock up before the snow arrives.

5. Start spending more time outside each day as the weather cools down to get Diesel used to the cold weather.  Living where you have four defined seasons it is very important to get accustomed to the weather change as it gets colder. Since Wisconsin can have some severe winters - temps to 25 - 35 below zero - it is very important that Diesel gets used to the cold weather gradually.

Booker: No Más by John W. Mefford ~ Review & Giveaway

New Release....
No more deception.

Brought to the Caribbean island of Dominican Republic on the premise that he could finally close the chapter on the darkest moment of his life—and rid the world of a cold-blooded killer—Booker T. Adams instantly finds a far different scene. Set against the backdrop of a city consumed by the rising fear of terrorism and a brutal drug lord, a woman, seemingly with two lives and even two faces, uses her hypnotic charm to get what she wants, sending Booker on a mission to rescue a teenage boy held hostage.

No more lies.

Befriended by a fired cop and a homeless kid with nothing to live for, Booker struggles to understand fact versus fiction, while staving off wild bores, snakes, terrorist traps, and a past that has haunted him for almost thirty years. Is he dealing with people believing their own hypocrisy, or have they simply perfected the art of betrayal and treachery?

No more killing.

The all-powerful rule with brute force, killing women and children like they’re swatting flies. It’s a savagery that Booker can’t comprehend, let alone defeat. With the smell of death stuffed down his throat, the man with everything to lose puts everything on the line—because he can stand…No more.

REVIEW
Once again John W. Mefford brings Booker to life in a action packed novel of intrigue and suspense. Booker is a ex cop turned PI. This time he is in Dominican Republic hoping to close a case. Lies, killing, and back stabbing lead him down a different path. I call this a one-night book...once I picked it up I was unable to put it down. Excellent READ!

#Camping ~ First Camping Trip in our Truck Camper

This July 4th holiday was our maiden voyage in our new campers. Our first stop was Sumerset, PA. at the Woodland Campsites located right out of town.  We only stayed one night and did not use any of the amenities so I can only say that we were welcomed by a friendly staff and escorted to our site. Our electric, water and sewer worked great.
Here we are after we set up for the first time.

My brother lives in Michigan and I live in Wisconsin. We both wanted to hit the road camping...so our plan is to take at least one big trip a year together.  Our new family tradition. This trip was our first...both of our campers were brand new. We headed to a family reunion in PA. While traveling down the turnpike our cousin passed us and took our pic. My brother in front and us right behind him.

We wanted to make a pit stop at the Flight 93 Memorial - then we headed to Greencastle, PA to meet up with family. While at Greencastle we stayed at the  Twin Bridge Meadow Family Campground for two nights. The campsite was a good size with a small creek running behind us. The bathroom and showers were spotless! Very clean! A nice campground that we would recommend.

Since our maiden trip we have added a few items to our camper and made a few changes. We have added a Beautyrest Mattress topper making the bed super comfy, a outside awning to the right side of our camper, chair rack, and cargo carrier.  My brother added a step to his doorway and we both has filled our campers up with stuff!

Knowing we were headed to Yellowstone on September 11th - we planned three camping trips to make sure we would be ready. My brother also planned three camping trips.  After each trip we have added more stuff to our campers.

I highly recommend that if you purchase a new camper and are planning a long camping trip that you take small trips to get ready. We have camped for years...but each new camper has different needs. Finding our what you and your camper needs will take time and camping trips. With camping you can think something will work well and it doesn't. Camping is definitely a trial and error experience.

We laugh and say...wonder when we will have enough stuff! STUFF!!!! Gosh we all need STUFF!!

We are leaving for Yellowstone tomorrow.  Our truck and camper are ready - we are packed and counting down the days....Make sure to check back at the end of the month. I am sure I will have some stories to tell and some amazing pictures of God's Country ~ Yellowstone, Devil's Tower and the Badlands.

Hubby bought a DashCam for our trip ...... so I can only imagine the pics!
