A departure for the bestselling thriller writer, this historical epic—a twelfth-century tale of the building of a mighty Gothic cathedral—stunned readers and critics alike with its ambitious scope and gripping humanity
I love to read and I can not begin to determine how many books I have read in my lifetime.
The Pillars of the Earth I think is probably the best book I have ever read.
Ken Follett did an excellent job of taking me into each word. I walked the streets - saw the castles and witnessed the wars. Never in a million years would I think cathedrals and monks would fascinate me and keep me wanting more ~ Ken Follett made me want more. While reading The Pillars of the Earth the book was ALWAYS in my mind. I thought about it all the time. I did not want to stop reading. I would wake up in the middle of the night just to read a few more words.
I give this book 500 STARS!!!! EXCELLENT READ!!! Now to start on Book II of the Kingsbridge Series.
I want to thank my friend Sue for recommending the book.
