Mirror Lake Wisconsin State Park ~ New Years Day Hiking Adventure

I wanted to start out 2018 on a healthy note. Since hiking and kayaking are my activities of choice I thought a fun hike at one of my favorite Wisconsin State Parks would be a great idea.
So off we traveled to Mirror State Park
Many of the Wisconsin State Parks have scheduled hikes
and other outdoor events. We were told that all 50 States were having New Year Day Hikes this year.
Enter the date and location - to find out what events are happening at a Wisconsin State Park near you. Outdoor events are a great way to have fun with family and not break the bank. I love to hike Wisconsin State Parks - I think Wisconsin is one of the prettiest states.
January 1st, 2018 was a chilly day - let me change that to a fridge cold day.
Temp: -7
Windchill: -22
There were about 15 of us hiking. A Mirror Lake Volunteer and a Ranger guided us through the hike. Channel 15 News from Madison interviewed Holly. We missed the interview when it aired - we were driving home.
Since I have lived in Wisconsin almost my entire life - having warm clothing is a must. So hiking in cold weather is okay with me. In fact I love winter hiking. I am not much of a summer hiker. Summer in Wisconsin brings many bugs - large biting bugs!
Freezing Cold - No Bugs
We had such a FUN time that hiking Mirror Lake is now our New Years Day Activity.

A little info about Mirror Lake SP
The park was opened on August 19th, 1966. The park is 2,179 acres and also includes Mirror Lake.
